Shoreham Harbour SEA/SA and Habitats Regulations Assessment (HRA) of the Joint Area Action Plan (JAAP)
Client: Adur District Council, Brighton & Hove City Council and West Sussex County Council
EPR was commissioned by the JAAP team to provide ecological advice and inputs to inform the strategic planning of a proposed new Joint Area Action Plan for Shoreham Harbour being developed jointly by the three authorities with support from the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) and BBP Regeneration.

EPR provided ecological inputs into the Sustainability Appraisal (SA) and Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) processes and developed a robust evidence base relating to the baseline environment of Shoreham Harbour in respect of ecology, wildlife and nature conservation issues. This was used to inform the iterative development of strategic plans to regenerate the harbour, ensuring that they are delivered in accordance with the objectives of sustainable development.

EPR also undertook the Habitats Regulations Assessment of the JAAP under the Conservation (Natural Habitats &c.) Regulations (1994) (as amended) (now the Conservation of Habitats and Species Regulations 2010), assessing the implications of the JAAP proposals in respect Natura 2000 and Ramsar sites that are of international importance for nature conservation.
