Environmental Impact

Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)

EPR has a proven track record of high quality ecological input into EIA and extensive experience of dealing with nature conservation and ecological issues within Environmental Statements. We believe that this process aids in promoting sustainable development and provides the opportunity, at an early stage in the project design process, to reduce ecological impacts through design enhancements and mitigation measures. This will help ensure that ecological objections to your proposals are removed at an early stage.

Our team of environmental assessors is experienced in all forms of ecological impact assessment (EcIA) both large and small scale and the integration of nature conservation issues with other environmental disciplines. We were centrally involved in the development of the most up to date ‘best practice’ guidelines produced by the Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (IEEM) (Click here for IEEM EcIA Guidelines), and are fully conversant with their use. The Practice has excellent working relationships with Local Authorities, Natural England, JNCC, the Environment Agency, and the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, with regular contacts at regional and national level.

EPR has wide-ranging experience of EcIA for road schemes, port and rail projects, residential and commercial developments. We have many years of experience of working with the Highways Agency and County Highway Authority engineers to design wildlife-sensitive solutions, ranging for example, from the creation of new herb-rich grasslands to the developing technologies of bat and dormouse bridges, and drainage systems. We have been involved extensively in motorway and trunk road landscape scheme management.

For residential and commercial clients we work on projects at all scales, from householder extensions, to the largest scale new settlements up to 25,000 dwellings.
