4th January 2016 - CIEEM Releases Updated Version of the Guidelines for Ecological Impact Assessment (EcIA) in the United Kingdom
We would like to make our colleagues and clients aware that today the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) released their much anticipated 2nd Edition of the Guidelines for Ecological Impact Assessment (EcIA) in the United Kingdom.
EPR’s Managing Director, Karen Colebourn, chaired the Institute’s working group that wrote the original EcIA Guidelines in 2006, which subsequently became the industry standard, and which were endorsed by both Natural England and the Environment Agency. Karen was also a member of the Technical Review Group for this 2nd Revision to the guidelines, which also acknowledges EPR’s continued support during their production.
EPR’s view is that the CIEEM EcIA Guidelines provide a transparent, robust and defensible framework for EcIA at all levels. This latest revision brings the Guidelines ‘up to date’ with the latest changes in legislation, and advancements in EcIA practice. We strongly recommend that the application of the guidelines is considered carefully considered during any project that requires EcIA, particularly where the project is subject to formal Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) under the EIA Regulations.
If you would like to discuss EcIA issues or the implications of the revised EcIA Guidelines for your project, please do get in touch by email or phone (details provided at the top of this page) – our experienced ecologists are happy to help.
