Green Infrastructure
Our clients say our well-designed Green Infrastructure has improved sales prospects by creating a more attractive environment

Designing Green Infrastructure
When carefully considered and executed, GI can deliver biodiversity enhancement and fulfil other functions, such as flood attenuation and the provision of recreational space. This maximises the benefits to local people and wildlife, minimises land-take and helps maximise commercial return.
We have successfully designed and implemented green infrastructure on many projects. We are particularly experienced in the design and delivery of Suitable Alternative Natural Greenspace (SANG), which are designed to attract recreational visitors away from sensitive wildlife sites.
Implementing Green Infrastructure
Our experience and services include the delivery and management of GI, including:
-
Landscape planting
-
Woodland creation and management (including tree and scrub planting, and ground flora establishment)
-
Planting or translocation of native species-rich hedgerows, and their subsequent management through traditional methods, such as laying
-
Wildflower-rich grassland establishment or enhancement (e.g., with wildflower seeding or green hay strewing)
-
Planning and oversight of traditional grazing regimes for nature conservation
-
Pond creation and planting of native aquatic, marginal and riparian plants
-
Installation of a variety of fencing (including amenity and stock proof barriers, as well as wildlife exclusion fencing for species such as amphibians and reptiles)
-
Installation of kissing gates, styles, waymarkers, benches, bins etc
-
Production of interpretation and information boards
-
Production and implementation of habitat management plans
Our recent experience in this area includes the design and creation of Langley Mead, an 18 ha SANG at Shinfield, near Reading.
The aim was to attract new and existing visitors away from the nearby Thames Basin Heaths SPA by providing a visually stimulating, attractive environment, whilst also creating habitats for wild plants and animals. We:
-
Restored species rich grassland through translocation of green hay
-
Planted thousands of native trees
-
Planted hundreds of meters of native species rich hedgerows
-
Constructed paths, boardwalks, fencing and site furniture.
